There is a humane way to do this and inhumane. MAGA do not care if it is humane, if people including US citizens, are detained using illegal unnecessary use of force, or if immigrants are illegally deported without due process or in violation of court order (like the college student above)
If a jurisdiction won't cooperate with ICE, how should ICE remove criminal aliens?
People who have been convicted and imprisoned in state prisons in Minnesota and have ICE holds are released directly to ICE, so that's covered for felonies. Requiring local governments to enforce immigration laws takes resources and money away from their own law enforcement needs without full compensation from the federal government (even if they have the excess personnel to do this). I haven't tried this myself, but I saw a video showing how to determine the threat presented by immigrants who have been detained--it described how to find the csv file on a federal website. Detainees are classified with threat levels from 1 (highest) to 4(lowest) and no threat. 86% are classified as no threat. Perhaps you should ask why Trump has cancelled naturalization ceremonies. I keep hearing people complain that undocumented people have "jumped the line" and not taken all the steps legal immigrants have taken to qualify for citizenship. So what's the justification for slamming that door shut? Makes it seem like, you know, it's not actually about crime. The problem is they (Stephen Miller actually) came up with this quota system. This required doubling the number of ICE agents in less than a year. It has also turned out that tracking down the serious criminals just isn't producing the numbers the administration wants, which leads to random vehicle stops and door to door checks and snatching 17 year old citizens from their places of work. People who have followed ICE vehicles have later seen ICE agents parked in front of their houses--just parked there, sitting there. That's bad enough, but there is no message from the top that they should conduct themselves professionally and respect people's civil rights--just the opposite. Bovino showing up in Mpls and other places probably makes things worse since leadership there want to please him. There's someone who has posted on DCM a few times who says they are a former ICE agent and describes the differences between how the agency used to work and how it does now. What about people who are in asylum or other proceedings to avoid deportation? I know these proceedings do not stop the clock, but should be respected nonetheless. What sense does it make to tell people to follow the rules if, when they are showing up for hearings, they are subjected to being detained? (I have heard that in the colder states they have to wait outside, sometimes for hours. Volunteers have been showing up with extra winter gear and handwarmers.)
