Because it usually shortens the duration if you get it. My 5th grader had Flu A and B last year, a month apart. He missed only one day of school for each - bounced back quickly. Several of his friends were out for a week. One was out for two weeks. His teacher was out for two weeks. At one point 40% of his grade was out.

This. My youngest got sick enough to be sick in bed for a little over 24 hours, with 12 hour bookends on either side of "not feeling great". Lingering cough for a couple weeks, but up and functional within 48 hours from start. Incredibly mild case, compared to what we're seeing with others and reading about here. Nobody else in the house got sick at all.

Thankful we all got our shots. Some coverage is better than none.[/quote]
