There is no reason to think Athleta would be cheaper or more downmarket. Yes they are owned by the Gap but so is Banana Republic, which actually has decent quality and regularly runs more expensive than JCrew. The quality between Athleta and Lululemon is very similar with similar fabrication. The difference is entirely in styling.

I have a couple things from both but mostly I'm shopping Nordstrom Rack or Amazon for brands like Zelle and CRZ Yoga which are less expensive. I work out every day, sometimes twice a day because I often do an evening yoga session after doing weights or cardio in the morning, and don't need to spend $200 on a single workout outfit. I pay attention to color and fit and style when I shop but I'm also often just looking for practical items that will hold up to regular washing and wearing and be comfortable (no patience for leggings that slip down or bras that dig in or whatever).[/quote]
