Even though you are not overweight by typical standards, do you carry the weight around your abdomen? Do you belong to an ethnic group that is higher risk for carrying abdominal fat, like South Asian or East Asian? If so, you may need to get visceral fat under control because it is a huge contributor to diabetes, and maybe a GLP-1 would help. But obviously this needs to be a convo with a doctor and endocrinologist. Wishing you the best.
Whoa....that was me. I brought down my A1C, and abdominal fat by going for MAINLY whole plant based meals twice a day, green juicing veggies twice a day, lots of salads, no ultra processed food, no sugar, little dairy(keffir, yogurt), little amount of organic meat, no rice, no wheat, no alcohol. Meals twice a day, IF, 10K steps (3000 steps after each meal), eating grains like quinoa, seeds like chia, pumpkin, sesame, nuts like almonds, hazelnuts. Good sleep. AND CSM. If I eat a fruit, eat it with fats like organic peanut butter or sip green tea mixed with inulin along side (INULIN not INSULIN) or eat it with cheese and nuts. Also, while you are diabetic - please do whatever you can to bring down your inflammation level in your body. Your blood tests will show that you have chronic inflammation.
