My answer would be, “it has to do with sex, do you want me to explain more” and she would say “ewww, no!”. Honestly, as she headed to middle school, I basically said, “listen, you are going to hear some words you don’t know. I am going to tell you the words and their meaning. If you have questions, I’m happy to answer them.” And then I gave her some basics. She did not want to discuss. I think it is important for kids to learn what words mean from their parents, which can also allow you to editorialize in a way that reinforces your personal values.[/quote]
