Just wait until your kids are in high school - especially the upper years. You will quickly see that there is plenty of wasted time where there is no instruction/tests going on. Couple that with AP/IB schedules - sometimes it makes more sense to skip school so the kids can actually get their work done.

This is the WRONG thing for teachers to do. It's unfortunate enough that they weren't officially off the full two weeks given the vote for two weeks last year and the fact that 12/24 is too late for people to wait if they are going somewhere, but for those who are there they should be given a break from real work until January 5.[/quote]
