I don’t see how kids or job affect doing these things. My experience is that most people who are not doing these with kids/job would not even if they don’t have kids/job. If “Moms” was “women” you’d likely get you similar responses. Most provider office are open during weekdays only. I book all of my appointments for when my kids are at school. I have sick days and personal days for medical appointments. I personally prefer the earliest available and my dentist has a few 8am slots which is perfect. I do all of these except the consistent exercise. I walk 3-4 times a week and have a stationery bike. I am late 40s.
I think having kids impacts these things because you have to do stuff like this for kids. Especially in families where the mom handles all the kids' appointments or where one or more kids might have special needs on top of the typical well child and dentist visits, women run out of bandwidth. Kids come first, so you get that done, and your own health goes on the back burner. I do some of these things (dentist, regular paps, exercise) but have not gotten around to mammograms or colonoscopies. I was actually in the process of booking a colonoscopy earlier this year (turned 45) and had to cancel due to a family conflict and haven't rescheduled yet (I'm definitely dragging my feet). I definitely feel overwhelmed by all of the stuff. I also have a husband who doesn't take care of his health at all and I finally broke down and started booking his dentist appointments and also found him a PCP and made him go to an appointment because he just would not do it. I really didn't want to take that on but I also didn't want to be married to someone who didn't do those things and eventually I just gave up. So it's just one more thing now.
