I've lived in 6 countries.  I've seen it spelled with a K, and I know they do that in some areas, but I don't like it.  Our neighbor in Warsaw who had a Karla also had an Oliwia.  Is Karla a legitimate spelling?  Sure.  Is Oliwia also a legitiimate spelling?  Yes.  But they are clunky and ugly in an English language dominant setting.

I'm doubling down on the Carla spelling.

You seem to be forgetting the part where you said that spelling variants are misspellings and make the user seem illiterate. My whole argument was that misspellings and established spelling variants are not the same thing.

The OP asked for opinions, and I am simply stating what I have seen. In fact, someone earlier in this thread stated, "and Karla is a name for someone born in the 1940-1950's. Except you Kardashianed it by slapping a K on instead of a C." I stand by the fact that many people now dislike legitimate K names and think they're misspellings because of the Kardashian's tacky K theme.[/quote]
