I think women are pressure to define themselves in terms of their relationship to others, so thinking about how you’re a good neighbor, friend, etc doesn’t really solve this problem.

I know a lot of these men. But none of their wives think that says anything about them. Those women are good friends, mothers, neighbors, employees, volunteers, etc. Their self worth is not tied up in who they're married to. [/quote]
