I think this is true, but even this is a step backwards-- as recently as the beginning of last winter they would sometimes let beforecare providers open on time even when there was a delayed opening if the beforecare providers thought local conditions were safe (yesterday would have been the perfect time for this) and on certain snow days  But I bet after all the pressure he got, he's not rethinking his whole approach, just "what's the least I can concede and get away with it?"

There are fewer dependencies for opening childcare than schools, particularly no buses or bus routes to worry about. Yes if there is a huge snow storm and everything is closed fine. But if the County Government offices are open on time then childcare should be open. Notice I didn't say MCPS admin offices since they love to give themselves extra days off.[/quote]
