Princeton is beautiful
Duke is Princeton with a more cohesive architectural theme - the core of Princeton is great but there are some ugly buildings mixed in - Duke also has one or two stinkers but fewer than Princeton. Plus there is East Campus which is beautiful in a totally different way (looks like UVA). Plus gorgeous gardens right in the middle of campus.
Princeton has a historical feel with Nassau Hall that Duke can never capture, plus the town of Princeton is a lot more charming than Durham. The gothic architecture at Duke is nice but apart from the chapel nothing really stands out like Blair Arch or Holder Hall do at Princeton.
Princeton has nothing remotely similar to Duke Gardens and all of the open space around the school. The quad on East at Duke is not matched at Princeton. And the newer dorms at Princeton are ugly. Duke isn't perfect but it has done a better job of making new buildings fit than Princeton. Duke also has Cameron Indoor Stadium, arguably the most famous college basketball arena in the country, which fits in seamlessly with the campus. And the majesty of Duke chapel is unmatched - the dramatic approach driving up to it is incredible.
Duke chapel with that small circular parking lot is very underwhelming. Princeton's campus is older and classier.
Small circular parking lot? Really? Take the long drive leading up to the chapel, with the gorgeous gardens on your right. Maybe around 5 pm when the bells are ringing.
I don’t find it nice to drive or have cars rushing through a campus.
