+1. No one is saying what he did was correct but there have been drunk drivers who killed multiple people and murderers who have gotten well under 20-30 years as their sentence [/quote]

I think public outrage might have contributed to the severity of his sentence.

It’s interesting that his MIL initially supported him until she followed social media that was extremely critical of him. Then she turned against him and became estranged from her daughter and grandkids.

He baked his daughter in the car! Do you not think that we should hold people who are entirely responsible for the care and safety of another human to a higher standard than just an average person out in the world? Not excusing drunk driving but he had ONE job, to keep her alive.  He intentionally left her strapped down to die a tortuous death alone! [/quote]

DCUM posters are not big on nuance. In fact, most appear to be utilitarians. From that view, we have a dead body as the outcome in both cases. It doesn't matter how you got there.[/quote]
