The real reason they will get paid is that 85% of federal employees live dispersed around the country and many are Republicans. With the thin margins in all the gerrymandered districts, they are are a voting block that could change Congress from red to blue.[/quote]

+1. Look at Virginia.  Governor, Lt Governor and Attorney General all flipped from Republican to Democrat in one night.  It wasn’t even close in a state where the federal government is a huge part of the economy.  Clean sweep. [/quote]
