So, I posted a comment in the "new league" thread that I think holds true here too... My DD is now U17 and plays in the ECNL MA. When she first started at U13, the SC clubs were in the MA at the time. They dropped to the SE after her U13 or U14 year, then you had the BRYC, Fairfax, whatever combos and now CISC and NVA dropping out. It would be great is GA and ENCL consolidated - there's a ton of clubs in Northern VA and along the Charlottesville - Richmond - Williamsburg - VA Beach corridor as well. But, that's kind of a pipe dream. It doesn't help matters either that VA & MD are on different HS soccer seasons (Spring v. Fall) which precludes pulling those VA & MD clubs together in the same conference. Only two more years left which I think is only 1 more Wilmington trip!
They tried that years ago, the Virginia Premier League or CCL right after - none of it took
CCL was before my kids time - why didn't it work?
It worked until ECNL came along. Then everyone jumped ship to ECNL. Now that MLS Next is expanding, everyone is going there now. The problem is that it is the same talent pool. MLS Next is even getting watered down now. Eventually, even they will have to change their structure to keep the more elite players.
The DA hurt CCL originally.
