You can still play college soccer and even D1 simmer down drama dad but P4 yes would be difficult
P4 is the dream. Anything less would be a huge disappointment.
Anything less than P4 is a disappointment? You can't be serious. You quote the statistics about how tough it is to even make college soccer at all then you say it is a disappointment not to make P4? Less than P4 is still a huge achievement. Most of the kids will be happy to make a D1 team AND get a good education. Period.
100%. Love how people say P4 is the goal, there a lots of P4 schools that I would not want my kid to go to for academic reasons.
DD had no interest in P4. Focused on D3. She will be pre-med and not interested in the time involved with P4 or D1.
The ole "my daughter had no interest in P4" and CHOSE D3. What P4 scholarship offer did she turn down???...because none of them have good pre-med tracks for sure.
Most P4s and many other D1s do not allow Pre-Med majors. Players have to go as a Biology major. When it comes to High Academic DIII, most schools are in the UAA League which is even more rigorous and spread out, similar to the BIG 10 and many athletes end up quitting just like P4 players. IMO, many families put too much weight on both P4 and High Academic DIII. They truly do not understand the commitment they take especially if an Engineering or Pre-Med (if team allows). And before parent puts down other kids for not wanting to go P4, players have all different kinds of wants. Some don’t care, some want smaller size D1, some are P4 or bust, no matter what school, some want playing time as a freshman, and some want more money, or multiple other other things. The biggest thing parents and players miss when choosing D1 is playing time. You are no longer competing against your club. You are competing against players just as talented up to 5 years older. Playing time is so far from a given and when a player who was a star the entire time during club finds themselves benched or not rostered, it can result in mental issues and depression. This is the ugly truth about D1 soccer. It is especially bad at P4 schools where the player will find themselves ALWAYS battling for a roster spot if not a starter. Keep that in mind when judging because you obviously aren’t there yet and are naive or you are just parent who thinks they are better than everyone.
Thanks for the lecture. What P4 school offered your daughter a soccer scholarship that she turned down? You ignored the question completely. You sound like you think you are better than everyone via your response.
I don’t need to validate you. And to be clear, I was not the parent that posted. They don’t need to validate you either. Besides, that is not any of your business who turned down what, where, who, why, and how much.
