Short hair looks awful on most women.
I think your opinion means little. I think really long hair looks awful. See?
PP you replied to. Sorry, I've lived a long time, on different continents, in various professional situations, and it's the rare woman who can pull off a very short haircut. I agree that really long hair would also look straggly if more people tried it, but usually only women who are gifted with lush hair and know it will look good, grow it out that long. It's a sort of self-selection. Unless you have a large head for your shoulders, and a lovely bone structure, please don't try the very short hair until you're so old that it doesn't matter either way. The proportion of the head to your body (specifically the shoulders), cheekbones and jaw line will be more noticeable with short hair. You need angles and not too much face pudge to make it work. The only exception is if your very short hair will still have a lot of volume around your hair, like natural African hair, in which case the strictures don't apply. You know what? I rock my short hair and I don't care what you think! So, there.

My 63-year-old boomer sister has had a short hair and says things like "rock my short hair" and thinks she is super cool. She looks terrible. She thinks her hairstyle is so cool and just "wash and go." She looks like she basically "gave up" and is more interested in things being easy than having any pride or interest in her appearance. I promise you, you're not "rocking" anything. You look like someone who doesn't care. Just look at celebrities to see what truly looks good on middle-age and older women. Even older women look better with longer hair than a "wash and go" cut. You all are very defensive about it, but should just be honest about it. I sometimes get very tired of the time I spend in the mornings to look polished and, well, nice and pretty, when I walk out the door in the morning, but I know it's better to present myself well to the world. The short, wash and go look make you look lazy.
