Seems to me like a great model and I wish more schools would do this.  Try out the campus, see how you like it AND the school get to see how you are in a classroom and as a member of the dorm community. Really? I think it is great if the kid already knows the kid almost definitely wants to attend. Otherwise, what kid is going to put down on his UVA (etc) app that he spent the summer before his senior year in this U Chicago program? For the kids who already know they want it, it seems like a good idea for them (but a massive money grab for the school for most kids...do you know lots of people with less than $65k in income). It sends the identical message when applying ED2 bc all other schools know they weren't the kid's first choice. Same with this UChicago program.

Jfyi, my kid didn’t put the UChicago enrichment program on their CommonApp. Plenty of other ECs. [/quote]
