This is all so bizarre - we were specifically told that 4th grade advanced math/LLIV class will take the 4th grade SOL even though they'll learn the 5th grade curriculum.
This is not a change. 4th AAP has always taken the 4th grade SOL. They skip the 5th grade SOL the following year and take the 6th grade SOL instead in 5th grade.
OK, great, other people were saying their 4th graders are taking the 5th grade SOL, so I was confused.
The change is in the pacing of the AAP 4th grade math curriculum. In prior years, they would follow the 5th grade curriculum but still take the 4th grade SOL. This was to prepare them for 5th grade where they were expected to take 6th grade math and the 6th grade SOL. Starting this year, they have changed the pacing in AAP 4th grade to follow the on-grade curriculum. No changes to the SOL pacing have been communicated within our center school. I expect this remains the same: 4th SOL in 4th grade.
