I think now due to over saturation in subs or with more people being regular subs due to the economy, they are probably in regular contact with schools and teachers and now have been the “go to” sub for the school. I wonder if a school keeps of list of “favorite” subs that they ring up to see if they would like to take a job?
I started subbing last year and I worked at over a dozen different schools over the course of the year. If I liked the class I was working in, I'd leave my contact info with the teacher. I've definitely become a "go to" sub at one school - the office admin who I sign in with called me several times last year and already reached out this year. It's great to have a relationship with one school but I'd like to have that relationship with more than one school.
Nice! Is this a full time (40hrs) gig for you?
