I want to sit here with coffee or cocoa, with the fireplace on, and watch the snow. And this and this I've been thinking about what makes this house special. So many properties of this type look beautiful but uninviting. This one is beautiful and formal but seems so damn comfortable and unfussy. The other thing is the sense of generosity and symmetry in the layout: wide hallways, large landings, space where you don't have to have it but it's nice to have, symmetrical windows and doorways that stream natural light. Whoever planned this house knew what they were doing.
