As a former Dem who now hates the Dems, I really hope they have this convention. The Dems have learned nothing and still hold the incredibly harmful positions that had them booted in 2024. I say let them speak. The convention will be a series of crazy Dems ranting about Trump, defending the "right" of someone's weirdo son to perv on girls in the bathroom and claiming that apprehending undocumented criminals is fascism. By the time they're done, voters will remember why these people can't be allowed to sniff power again.
They’ll be talking about the economy, and they’ll remind the country that elections ARE coming. The GOP is going to get rolled next fall.
They will win because Trump is unpopular not because people actually support them Dem’s plans. That is the problem for the past couple of decades. Very few people support either party. Don’t confuse winning an election with actual support.
Wrong. Infrastructure investment is popular Ensuring health coverage through ACA and Medicaid is popular Lowering tariffs (ie TAXES) is popular Putting sane justices on the corrupt SCOTUS is popular. Curbing Russian interference in domestic politics is popular I could go on, but D’s have plenty of popular policy ideas.
Infrastructure investment is popular but can we look at strutting it so we get a slice of the pie that the private sector will make off govt support? Ensuring healthcare coverage is population but people’s out of pocket costs and total healthcare spending have soared and our overall health is down since Obamacare. So how can the ACA be modified to fix these really real problems? Lowering tariffs is popular, but many companies are absorbing costs for now bc of cash cushions built up under Biden proving that, yeas, they were price gorging us during the final part of his term. What policies might Dem proposed to stop price gorging? Maybe we can propose taxing stock buybacks? I could go on. There are Dems have down some good things I don’t deny. BUT we have real problems in our country and having another election where we hid from these problems and just run against the other guy is not going to work IMO. And I definitely agree with the other poster who mentioned that Dems have to change their position of unwavering support of funding arms to Israel that are killing kids in the Middle East. That is a real issue drag for us and Dems need to weigh losing APAIC money from losing votes.
