Subaru Forester (regular and hybrid) - I freaking LOVE this one. Everything about it is easy and intuitive, I can see forever and there are virtually no blind spots, and I haven't found it to be lacking in pep. I will take it out on the highway if we do decide to go with it.

Mazda CX-50 - Very very nice. Super comfortable, very easy to adjust to my height. I am able to not only put my heel down on the accelerator, I can actually pivot between the accelerator and brake!  The ride wasn't as smooth as the Forester, and it didn't handle as well. The console display thing is terrible, but it is more than offset by the feature where they project the speed, speed limit, nav, etc. onto the screen, so you don't have to look at anything else. Didn't go in thinking I needed that, but now I'm thinking how awesome it would be to have it.

Honda CR-V - A distant third right now. Not as adjustable, couldn't see as well, and for me what is pretty much disqualifying is that I can't put my heel down on the floor when my foot is on the accelerator. Definitely not a good thing for any travel involving distance.

I have revised my list on the basis of input from my car crazy BIL who takes test drives on weekends for fun, so I have another 5 or 6 on the list now.[/quote]
