In regards to the various denominations of American Christianity, which ones do you believe treat women the best ?? As in more leadership opportunities & equal treatment between the sexes ?? Which ones do you think view women in a more unequal or lesser light in regards to men? Here's my take... Off the top of my head: Treats women more unequally: - Southern Baptist - Reformed Evangelical - Calvinist/Puritan - Jehovah Witness - Pentecostal Treats women more fairly: - Roman Catholic - Church of Latter-Day Saints (non-Fundy) - Unitarian - Episcopalian - Charismatic Evangelical - Presbyterian - Lutheran Thank you for your thoughts and views!!
I'd definitely put Episcopalian way above Catholic, which I'd put near the bottom, along with Charismatic Evangelical - and any church that does not allow female clergy. Also would put Mormons near the bottom. While they believe women's education (now), they still treat women like reproduction machines.
That is way off. I was raised in the Assemblies of God (which is both Pentecostal and Charismatic Evangelical) and growing up I attended a church with a female head pastor. Women were very involved in the early pentecostal movement and helped found the AG Church as well as the Foursquare Gospel Church. Also I see that the Society of Friends and Methodists didn't make the list - unless they are also being lumped into Charismatic Evangelical - but Women take leadership roles in those denominations too. But I'm struggling to understand how LDS would treat women more fairly than pentecostals, unless the OP has no idea that there are many different pentecostal churches with different doctrines that are not affiliated with one another. If you want an actual list of egalitarian churches, I recommend this resource from the Center for Biblical Equality: https://www.cbeinternational.org/primary_page/cbe-directories/
