OP, is the owner sending you emails telling you the bill is paid in full AND do you have a copy of the final invoice that matches what you paid? If not, then you have a problem. We had this problem with another company. The owner tried to overcharge us for a mistake he made. His wife was in charge of billing. We worked out an agreed price. The owner told us (via phone) to go ahead and pay it. I said we will as soon as you send us the correct invoice. His wife kept sending us invoices for the higher amount. He kept asking us to pay us the agreed upon amount and said we could work out fixing the invoice later over the phone. I followed up in email and his wife responded that we owed the higher amount. I kept insisting on the correct invoice before paying. Otherwise the company could sue us for the rest and put a lien on our house. He was a lying snake and was trying to trick us. He finally sent us the correct invoice after I continued to insist that I wouldn't pay a penny until I received it and I called our realtor who recommended him to tell him what's going on. I would send an email documenting that you paid in full and demanding that they send you a receipt indicating that the bill is paid in full. If they don't do this within 24 hours, then go ahead and post the negative review.
