Vance’s USSS detail asked for the river level to be raised so the *secret service protective detail* motor boats could navigate the river in support of the protection mission. Vance and family were *kayaking*.

The raised water levels were for the secret service boats, not for Vance.

Let’s review, because you need some help catching up with the rest of the room, ok?

JD Vance is the current Vice President of the United States

The Vice President gets a large secret service protection detail. Not as big as the President’s detail, but still very large.

When the VP goes anywhere, the detail follows, and uses a variety of vehicles to perform that mission. Sometimes it’s cars/SUV’s. Sometimes it’s other types of vehicles - including motorboats when the activity involves doing something on the water.

The motorboats the secret service uses require a couple feet of water to float in and maneuver on, without the propellers striking the bottom.

A kayak requires about 4” of water to float. The secret service boats require about 20” of water to float.

In order for the secret service boats to follow the VP and his family in kayaks, the depth of the water needs to be at least 20” or more.

So the secret service *chose* a river where the *level could be temporarily raised to accommodate their boats* and told the VP [i]“you can go kayaking HERE. On THIS river. Not THAT river over there, or some OTHER river someplace else. THIS river HERE, Mr Vice President…. Because we can control and secure THIS river HERE[/i]”.

So the secret service temporarily raised the level of the river to allow their boats to navigate so their agents could protect the VP from anyone who’d attempt to harm him.
