The fact that DCU would try to brand this effort as a "school" is really unbelievable and laughable. All you need to know as a parent is that DCU has just introduced another vehicle into the market by which they will try to take your money for absolutely nothing in return. Other than the potential to be seen, which, if your kid was good enough he would be seen regardless. The whole press release is disingenuous PR and it is a shame that they resort to basically misleading the public about the realities of what they are doing. Engagement with this new thing, whatever it is, is effectively burning your money.
I clicked on every link in the article announcement and can't find anything about payments and how much. Where are you guys seeing that and how much is it per year?
Go to the Website, Academy Portion and then Regional Development and then go to the FAQs. Great catch by a previous poster. We are in the Philly Union email system and I got an email about trying out for their program of the same name. I was potentially interested in just trying out so I could have a defense against DCU if they ever put my kid on the protected list but the feedback in the PA Soccer Group FB forum was it is essentially just another P2P with no real talent evaluation. As another poster just said our practice schedules are coming out soon and most high-level kids will have schedules finalized in a few weeks for the fall. It will be interesting if they try to go up against ODP with Sunday evenings or tap into Saturday evenings. "IF" DCU has been able to coordinate with each of the P2P teams and development a schedule built on a day the 1st teams in the age groups at let's say Potomac, Achilles, Juventus in MoCo for example, they "might" be onto something. However, do you think an organization with quasi public-private fields in Leesburg and one scout for MD, DC, VA, WV and DE really took this step? I had 15 minutes of optimism and then reality set in.
How is the one scout able to not only be in multiple places simultaneously, but also look different. He a magician?
