1. People don’t leave Washington DC for July 4th, they come to Washington DC for July 4.

2. It’s the summer, people take vacations. That’s OK.  If you are extremely vested in summer swim, you will plan to vacation in August, otherwise, you’ll miss a meet, whether it’s the week of July 4, or another week.  It’s not a big deal either way.  [/quote]

There are alternatives. People here are just stuck in their ways and think the way the local swim leagues do things is the best way, which it actually isn’t.

A home meet the morning of July 4th is going to cause a mutiny at most pools.  The NVSL should show some flexibility and move the meet to Sunday July 5th.  There is absolutely no reason why this can’t happen.[/quote]

This is interesting for sure.  4th of July is a beloved day at our pool that benefits all members and is well attended.  In fact, people line to get in at opening to secure a table if they want one.  However, swim team parents have hijacked the entire Board.  Wonder what NVSL will do.[/quote]
