I’ve worked since the year 2000. Have seen many over hiring/ lay off cycles, myself included but when a boss was protecting her position.

Did I cry and blame America?

No.  I was mad and called my network of supporters who had been through the same, talked with my family, and then instigated my job search plan for the year. Ended up relocating, and happy.

Sweetie you did that during the easy times.  Entire industries are losing funding and are dying.  Not just one, but entire industries.  Science and research, retail, high level education, federal government.
