Some women want the sympathy that comes with the "single mom" phrase even if they are married or child habitating and in no way "single." There are women who think "single mom" just means they aren't married to their kids' dad, whether due to divorce or break up or whatever. They are incorrect, but this is surprisingly common.[/quote]
