I would pause before giving my own kid that amount, but will likely give around that amount in gifted, or cash if he would prefer. He is graduating 8th grade this year and I got him probably close to $400 in gifts, and I thought that was excessive. I got nothing from my parents - not even a card - for graduation from high school, college, or grad school (I paid for grad through loans and they paid for the lead up to it). They paid for private school and college and I guess thought that was gift enough. I was not about to ask or argue over it. [/quote]
