But there are some complicated work arounds, if you talk to NVCC advising. 20 years ago, most schools allowed you to transfer pre-req/general education credits taken in the summer, but that was before online was prevalent. I knocked out 100/200-level social sciences and foreign language that way (I was an English major, so these were “check the box” courses; I didn’t try to do anything in my major), and theoretically it could have reduced my overall tuition bill. I see why this policy has changed (it’s difficult to determine the quality/rigor of a course at another school, but it does make it more expensive for students, unless they/their parents plan ahead.[/quote]
