Some of the nicest ones in the country are about that amount. Stayed at one of the only 5 star rated hotels in the country, not a motel deary, for $550 recently on a trip.

Most people don't just vacation in Nowhereville..  its ok once or twice,  but I'd prefer a beach in [b]Maui, Costa Rica, a great hotel in Aspen/vail/breck.  None of those places have a 5 star accommodation for 500 or less.  [/b]None.   Oh, and I haven't even got to Europe.  We've stayed in some great places there. [/quote]

Because those are tourist traps for the rubes with more money than brains.

If you are booking online also, you are a rube. I only reserve rooms at hotels where I know the manager or staff insider. Better rates.
