If I'm paying $500 a night for a fancy 5 star hotel, it had better not smell like anything or I'm walking out.
And I'm sure they won't care if you do. Oh, and $500 does not get you "fancy 5 star" anyway...
Some of the nicest ones in the country are about that amount. Stayed at one of the only 5 star rated hotels in the country, not a motel deary, for $550 recently on a trip. Perhaps you are overpaying because you don't know any better and using places that have some yelp rating system? :D
Most people don't just vacation in Nowhereville.. its ok once or twice, but I'd prefer a beach in Maui, Costa Rica, a great hotel in Aspen/vail/breck. None of those places have a 5 star accommodation for 500 or less. None. Oh, and I haven't even got to Europe. We've stayed in some great places there.
Because those are tourist traps for the rubes with more money than brains. If you are booking online also, you are a rube. I only reserve rooms at hotels where I know the manager or staff insider. Better rates. The posted rates are always for regular public.
