Bush made a terrible mistake invading Iraq. And his financial deregulation directly led to the collapse in 2008. But he wasn’t evil. I think he’s a genuinely good man who was in way over his head after 9/11. Whereas Trump is pure evil
I don't know how anyone can think someone who wiped out so many innocents cannot be evil.
Obama killed a bunch of innocent people too but is not evil. Like Bush, he had to make some hard decisions. But Trump is in a class by himself - lying about Covid was not a hard decision. Summoning his rabid followers to the Capitol ("Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild!") was not a hard decision. Unleashing DOGE on the federal workforce was not a hard decision. When he's not punishing his perceived enemies, Trump is most often using his office to promote his private businesses (and pushing federal tax dollars directly into his own pocket). Did Bush and Obama sign multi-million dollar book deals after leaving office? Sure. But did these deals have any influence on their decisions as president? Of course not. But Trump...hoo boy. Just to give one example: After winning the 2016 election he doubled the initiation fee at Mar-a-lago to $200,000. By last summer the fee had reached $700,000...at which point Trump raised it *again* to a cool million dollars. Why are people willing to pay such large sums of money to join Trump's club? Because they know he visits just about every weekend and they are purchasing the opportunity to influence him. Then getting the Secret Service to pay inflated room rates for the right to protect him is the icing on the cake.
