PreK is NOT hard, esp in DC. Have you looked at the curriculum? DD is a smart girl, but she's not a genius and she's bored by the curriculum in PreK3 because its stuff she learned in daycare a year ago. Fortunately, she's learning Spanish too so she's being challenged 50% of the time. And she's a late bday kid. I would have LOVED for her to attend Stokes this year. If she were guaranteed admission there next year in exchange for repeating PreK3, I would be doing her a disservice.

She's one of the smallest kids in her class and not the most mature, but she's adapting and has just adjusted just fine. Being the youngest kid has some advantages too. For instance, she stopped having potty accidents completely once school started.

OP, K is another great entry year at some charters. And at Stokes, PreK4 is easier to get in than PreK3 (which hasnt had a lottery for this grade in two years).[/quote]
