Nope. I’m a Fed. Laptop now must stay in the office and we can be terminated for working after 6. Folks have been fired for logging out at 6:03 or 5:57 and putting 6. Extended flex band gone. In the before times, I was working credit 6-8pm about half the time. Now not allowed. Annoying because with people out of the office and off Teams, it was my most productive time of the day. Having to commute obviously makes working after 6 impractical, even if it were allowed. But if Elmo demands that I work less, so be it. Our offices productivity (which has been closely monitored for years) has tanked. We will almost certainly miss goal— by 1000+ plus cases. First time in at least a decade we haven’t crushed our FY goal by August. So much burn out and apathy. Having to take a full day for a dentist appointment also doesn’t help. All the disruption is and chaos is a productivity drain. Our most experienced folks were able to VERA. And 12 people around a conference table without second monitors isn’t productive x especially since we are constantly on the phone or Teams meetings. Too bad, so sad. This is what Trump voters wanted. (Our workloads are heavily focused on red states’). My salary stays the same, even if my productivity goes down.
Fired for logging out at 6:03 and saying 6?! That’s insane. I’m wondering what agency. My DH is a Fed but it hasn’t quite come to that yet.
Nope. It’s real. They are trying to hit their target without actual RIFs. Congress is very upsets about RIFs in our agency. So are looking for any reason to fire for cause. Our union is grieving this on the behalf of the handful of people fired. But rule is 5 minute grace period on login in (takes time to get laptop up and into WebTA). Must log out to the minute. DOGE is in the building and also firing people on the spot who lock their laptops but forget to grab their PIV card when going to the restroom. As in Doge employees walk around multiple times a day looking for this. They caught some people, especially in early RTO. Also the subject of a union grievance. Calling it a PII violation. Instant termination, no write up and second chance. DOGE is more burrowed into our agency and more involved in the restriction than probably any federal agency they aren’t dissolving. And the restructuring is BAD. Unworkably bad.
Which agency? This is anonymous so no harm in naming it.
