DC’s roommate is in engineering at UMD. His internship opportunities every summer have been incredible. He already has offers for after he graduates. Hasn’t had any issues getting the classes that he needs. Lots of apartment options right off campus that are closer to the classroom buildings than most of the dorms are.
There are lots of opportunities for UMD engineering/CS students with tech firms along the I270 and Dulles Parkway corridors. Defense contractors like Lockheed, RTX, Boeing, BAE Systems, SAIC, Leidos, and others recruit for summer and full time roles at UMD. If your child is interested in aerospace engineering (neutral bouyancy pool) or root-craft, UMD has unique capabilities.
Most of this is operational IT with some exceptions in DOD spaces.
