People have certain protections under the law, including the 4th amendment which protects people from unreasonable searches and seizures by the government. For example, the police can't enter your home if you don't invite them in unless they have a warrant or believe someone is in imminent danger. [/quote]

If a police officer orders you to step out of the vehicle, you are legally required to cooperate. The police can tell someone to step out of their car for any reason. There is Supreme Court case law (Pennsylvania v. Mimms, 1977) that gives cops the authority to do this. Any decent lawyer with half a brain would tell someone that’s been pulled over to cooperate with the police and not resist. If a police officer tells you to step out and you refuse, you will be forcibly removed from the vehicle and arrested. If you roll up the window, they will break it open and proceed to arrest you. Needless to say, if you’re pulled over and told to step out of the car, just do it. The place to argue is the courtroom, not the side of the road. Noncompliance won’t get you anywhere but jail.[/quote]
