I’m surprised that people say 10 days is too long to vacation in a major city. It’s seems to me that if you have the ability to take an extended trip that you could really get a feel for a place and enjoy it like the locals do. Isn’t a vacation more than checking off major sites/bucket list items off of a list?
The locals go to work or school and don't spend 10 straight days taking in the sights. They spend their vacations on the Cape/Islands, or in Maine, or at their NH lake houses. Agree that there is plenty to do in Boston, and we have done most of it over the years, but in small bites not in a 10 day stretch. But OP's family may be different and maybe they like to get to know a city and do one thing a day rather than 3-4. That's okay too. She hasn't said anything about their interests so hard to know.
