This is ridiculously stupid. Measles kills around 1/500 kids that get it.  Measles also erases immune system memory and kids who get it are more likely to die from infections for another 5 years after the fact. 20% of kids that get measles are hospitalized and some of the survivors are get permanent brain damage. Before the measles vaccine existed it was common for thousands or parents to have their children die from measles each year. [/quote]

Yeah, there were no "measles parties." I was a child before the vaccines existed, got it at the age of 4. With the level of contagiousness no party needed, once it showed up every kid was going to get it.

But is having measles part of the reason I had multiple strep infections growing up plus a case of pneumonia that kept me out of school for 3 weeks? (z-pack didn't exist, I had oral penicillin and once a week a penicillin injection). [/quote]
