The bolded has not been proven, at all.  So maybe stop spreading rumors?

We could not confirm or disprove any of the information reported by Wired, which was the origin of the claim. The article gave three examples of DOGE staffers with high pay rates, but did not specify how the publication obtained or verified the information — though it said it had confirmed at least one of the salaries. Snopes reached out to the story's author to learn more and will update this story if we hear back.

Wired does excellent reporting. This report has not only appeared in Wired, but also NYT. All Snopes has said is that they will report back whenever they can confirm (or not) the information. Federal salaries are public information so it’s very curious that no one can seem to confirm ANYTHING about the salaries of these people who are embedded within the government.

And on top of this, Elon has said they are totally unpaid volunteers. Hmmm. [/quote]
