I knew someone in college whose father was 75 when she was born.  Let's suppose she had been born with severe disabilities and was a dependent and her father died. They also did not understand that more than one person can receive benefits under the SSN of someone who dies or is disabled and has a widow/er and/or dependent children, so they assumed multiple checks going to multiple people under the same account was fraud.

I hadn't thought about the onboarding process at all. Even in mundane jobs with large companies, there can be 1) background and security requirements (e.g. if you are an employee or contractor of an energy company you have to complete FERC training) and 2) active domain management can take longer than you expect, especially if you are supposed to be assigned to domain groups that require specific authorization by specific people). So you have a network person who assigns AD groups who is required to have all those pieces in place before they can go ahead and add you to groups so you can have access to specific software, etc etc. [/quote]
