Having a healthy relationship with your husband where you are not just spouses but partners in taking care of your home is not easy, and I can say for myself it took years.  For many people it takes years of negotiating, battles, arguments, taking a stand, etc., to reach a point where you both just do what needs to be done in a fair way.  My sense is that what many wives do is just do the housework themselves from the beginning because they don't want to have a discussion/fight about every. single. chore. or deal with DH not doing things "right" and as the years go on your apartment becomes a house then a larger house, you have kids, you have pets, and a bad precedent has been set, along with the fact that many women are just terrible at negotiating with men.[/quote]
