Censorship around COVID information (yes, a lot of it was false/misinformation but people felt that their opinions were being silenced) led Elon Musk to buy Twitter and basically end all moderation on it, which then lead to Twitter becoming more right wing, which directly contributed to Trump’s win in 2024.

I agree - Covid and the Covid response messes everything up. It felt like no one knew what was going on and that the left was insisting on restrictions in order to basically come down on the other side against Trump. I knew when he was calling for open schools in fall 2020, that the schools would not open unless he was voted out, and that is exactly what happened. [/quote]
