Why?  Maybe they each had half of what it took to be an amazing athlete (e.g. one parent had incredible hand-eye coordination and general athleticism but their dedication and mental game sucked, the other was super dedicated and had tons of grit but couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn) and their genes combined just right for their kid?[/quote]

PP here and DH and I both may well have had enough athleticism but neither of us had the grit, dedication, determination, and perseverance that DD has. She worked her butt off and still does. DH and I were both pretty lazy. I do not recall ever once putting in any extra work in any sport outside of team practice. [/quote]
