I didn't even know this was still a thing. https://people.com/man-executed-by-firing-squad-for-first-time-in-us-since-2010-shared-final-plea-11693513 I think once Trump gets word of this, he's going to make this the default death penalty method, on live TV.
The comment section of that article is eye-opening. I guess people are really on board with the government having the discretion to be barbaric.
What’s barbaric about putting to death someone who killed two innocent people? He chose his own method of execution.
Because we are better than a murder. The fact that you ask this tell me there is something seriously wrong with you.
Then keep murderers in prison for life, but you probably think that's not fair either.
Not PP but another person against the death penalty. Of course he should be in prison for the rest of his life. Brutally murdering two people in cold blood? Yeah, not safe in society. I am a Christian, and killing people in retribution is antithetical to the teachings of Jesus. If the state is going to murder people the firing squad actually is the most humane. Highly accurate and no suffering. Lethal injection can seem more clinical but it goes wrong too often.
PP here. Actually, I'm a Christian who is opposed to the death penalty, too; but I'm disgusted by the early release of murderers or shorter sentences than life. It happens too often.
Then you’d really hate it in Europe, where the average sentence for a murder is 10 to 20 years.
