It's not divisive; the point of that slogan is not ONLY Black Lives Matter, it's that Black Lives Matter ALSO. (I am white, it's just not that hard to grasp this concept.) If you're not sure why anyone would feel the need to remind society at large that Black lives also matter, try reading some news, history, or sociology. However. It would have been insane to fight on this point and risk the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars of federal transportation funding. So I'm glad the District is backing down in advance from a confrontation that would have ended badly and not have been worth the battle.
Interesting! Hundred of million dollars are more important than reminding society at large that Black lives also matter.
Here we go again. Rather than defending what is clearly a performative stunt, how about we actually do something to make lives better. How about, for example, we actually locked people for committing violent crime in DC, given the overwhelming proportion of their victims are black?
If only the federal prosecutors in DC would do their jobs! Of course, when they do, Trump just pardons everyone anyway, so what's the point?
Those were different federal prosecutors, but the J6 bunch should be in prison as well. I'm not sure why one excuses the other. Trump being unfit for office should have no bearing on whether spending millions of taxpayer dollars on a blatantly political performative public "mural" was a good choice for the city to have made.
