If the city suffers an economic decline due to federal government cuts, the suburbs go down with it. The suburbs here are thriving because of the presence of the government. I have to assume that the gloaters are just outsiders who hate the whole region for being liberal (who also will suffer economically if their country’s capital does, but they can’t wrap their heads around that apparently).
