OP here - so basically I'm struggling between the Costco version of this dishwasher (405) and the Bosch 800 series. We had a repairman here for our clothing washer and he said he didn't recommend the Bosch because he has to pull the whole thing out to repair it and it's much more costly for the homeowner. He recommended anything made by Whirlpool (including Kitchenaid). Then I looked on Reddit and everyone HATES their Kitchenaid/Whirlpool and loves their Bosch. I am so torn!![/quote]

They’re mostly fine and you’ll probably hate something specific about whichever one you get. And if you get a lemon, that’s just bad luck.

My Bosch 800 really does smell though. It’s like slightly burning plastic, or something. Ozone, I don’t know. It doesn’t bother me much but I can see how some people could really hate it. [/quote]
There's clearly something specifically wrong with the one you have.  I don't think the burning smell is a problem across the entire product line. [/quote]
