I'd actually be pretty concerned about difficulties with automaticity and letter naming even in K. These problems can be early signs of dyslexia or ADHD (both inattentive and hyperactive). I'd monitor carefully and be quick to get OG style tutoring support and a psycho-educational evaluation in support of an IEP or 504 if necessary. Reading problems are easier to remediate when kids are younger. Ask me how I know.
They CAN signal dyslexia or ADHD but they can also signal the student needing to practice fluency. At my school, we have kindergarteners score zero on every subtest on DIBELS at the beginning of the year. They've never taken it before and some have no letter/sound knowledge. The students who are still scoring far below grade level at the end of kindergarten are typically students who struggle for the rest of ES. The time between now and the end of the year is when my students show the most progress in letter naming, nonsense word, whole word, and phonemic segmentation fluency. All of these subtests are easily practiced at home.
