It’s very simple, good sport highschools are a direct result of great youth sports programs.  Vienna has the best youth football, lacrosse and baseball programs in Fairfax and as a result -  Madison is competing for titles in those sports every year.  In contrast, Vienna has a struggling youth wrestling program and no surprise Madison had a terrible wrestling program.   Chantilly has the best rec wrestling program and as you would guess Chantilly is the odds on favorite to win regionals this year. [/quote]

I wasn't asking why wealthier schools with a lot of White kids tend to get the most titles (with exceptions for boys basketball and, to some degree, soccer).  It's fairly clear why - more private lessons from a young age and better youth sports programs.

I was asking whether people were embarassed if their schools never or rarely win anything while other schools rack up titles year after year.  [/quote]
